As the founder and principal of Out of the Box End-of-Life Planning, Sue Mackey's passion lies in helping people navigate the complexities of end-of-life preparation as a final gift to the ones they leave behind.
She combines this passion with years of experience as a consultant and educator, specializing in the creation of comprehensive final wishes reflecting core values and in alternative and affordable funeral planning.
Sue is a Certified Thanatologist. She is deeply knowledgeable about the creation of advanced medical directives that effectively express your wishes for end-of-life care, and understands the workings of the funeral industry.
She is currently the president of the Funeral Consumer Society of Colorado, has served as a member of the Ethics Consult Team at Boulder Community Hospital, has worked with hospice, is trained as a death doula, is an educator for families who desire a family-led funeral, and is host of the robust Lafayette Death Café.
Sue's signature class is Thoughtful Exit Planning, a special, eight-week, hands-on workshop series to help you navigate your options thoughtfully and deliberately. Classes are currently being held on Zoom, accessible from anywhere, and recorded for future reference by class participants.
Together, following a simple, step-by-step approach, you'll create an “Exit File™” that reflects your desires, values and your budget, and assures that your loved ones won’t be burdened with difficult decisions at a time when they may be least able to make them.
Sue also works one-to-one in person or on zoom for personal support for completing an Exit File or simply to refine what plans you might already have in place.
